Abrasion Resistance
The degree by which a fabric is able to withstand the loss of appearance through surface wear, rubbing, chafing, and other frictional actions. The resistance of materials and structures to abrasion can be measured by a variety of test methods. Abrasion resistance is an important parameter in silk fabrics due to the fine structure of the silk filaments. There are many methods of abrasion-resistance tests, of which the Martindale abrasion tester method (ASTM standard D4966-12, 2013) [ASTM D4966-12] is the most popular method.
